The Power of the MediaRecorder API
When you use TalkLink to record your meeting directly from the browser, all the recording data is buffered into your device's memory using the MediaRecorder API. This completely bypasses the need to upload gigabytes of data to a cloud server, ensuring absolute privacy and an instant download when you're done.
Browser Memory Limits
Modern browsers like Chrome and Edge are incredibly powerful, but each tab has a memory limitation (often around 2-4GB depending on the OS and architecture). When recording a 4K video session for an extended period of time, this memory can fill up rapidly.
Best Practices for Long Recordings
To ensure a smooth, uninterrupted recording:
- Close Unnecessary Tabs: Free up system resources by having TalkLink open in an isolated window.
- Download in Segments: For sessions extending beyond an hour, consider briefly stopping the recording, downloading the file, and then starting a new recording segment.
- Opt for 1080p if Unsure: If your hardware is older or you are planning a very long marathon session, choosing 1080p provides a fantastic balance between professional quality and memory efficiency.
